Acrylic, charcoal on recycled canvas, framed in oak | 102cm x 152cm
Note: This artwork was made with a recycled canvas with a distinct rip in it, which was sewn together by pink thread. The theme of this piece was built around the rip, symbolising the scars we heal and grow strength from.
“Warrior Thread” is a powerful visual tribute to the strength, endurance, and transformative beauty of womanhood. This piece symbolises the quiet battles and roaring storms that women face, both internally and externally; and the extraordinary resilience with which they rise. Through layered textures, fractured lines, and warm tones contrasted with deep shadows, the painting evokes the many scars, visible and invisible, that tell stories of survival, growth, and triumph.
Central to the composition is a female figure, not portrayed as unbreakable steel, but as living, breathing resilience, gracefully weathered, yet radiant. Her posture exudes quiet power, surrounded by symbols of both struggle and regeneration: withered clothes, bloodied armour, a shield, a sword, a headlight to lead the way. These elements reflect the paradox often misunderstood; while some view women as delicate, it is their ability to endure pain, rebuild, and evolve that defines their true strength.
This piece honours all women who have faced adversity and emerged with wisdom and grace. It is a token of deep appreciation for their stories, some spoken, many held in silence. For every woman who has endured, adapted, and flourished, this artwork stands as a testament: you are not fragile, you are formidable. And in your resilience lies your most powerful beauty.
