Part 2 of My Community Art Series
Acrylic, charcoal on canvas, unframed | 150cm x 110cm
Part 2 of the series unfolded on the Easter Long Weekend at Mahon Pool — and it was a scorcher. The sun was blazing, the kind of heat that sticks to your skin, while massive waves crashed dramatically against the sandstone hedges, creating a wild, cinematic backdrop by the sea.
The atmosphere was electric, with over 50 people contributing to the canvas, fuelled by the energy of InnerWest Sessions, a guerrilla-style event that redefines what a party can be.
As always, I set one rule: one go, one line. And as always, it was broken (which I’ve grown to love). People from all walks of life joined in, some planned, some just passing by; drawn in by the sound, the colour, and the connection. There’s something powerful about strangers coming together to create something with no pressure, just presence.
I took the piece back to my studio and added my final mark using the same rule: a single, continuous trace to tie it all together. The piece is a reflection of shared expression, spontaneous connection, and a moment in time shaped by sun, sea, and sound.
